What We Do
At the Sabah Film and Visual Arts Association (SAFVA), our mission is to empower and elevate the creative talents of Sabah through focused initiatives in film, visual arts, and multimedia. We connect filmmakers, artists, and content creators with the tools, networks, and platforms they need to succeed — locally and globally.
Here’s how we do it:
1. Industry Exposure & International Representation
We actively bring Sabah-made films to international markets such as TIFFCOM (Tokyo) and FILMART (Hong Kong), giving our members global visibility and access to buyers, distributors, and co-production partners.
3. Training & Talent Development
We organize:
-
Workshops & masterclasses with local and international mentors
-
Film labs & creative bootcamps
-
Mentorship programs to enhance skills in writing, directing, producing, editing, and more.
5. Recognition & Showcasing
We highlight outstanding works by Sabah creatives through exhibitions, press features, screenings, and participation in film festivals — making sure their stories are seen and celebrated.
7. Advocacy & Industry Representation
We help promote our members’ works through:
-
Curated film catalogs
-
Showcasing at international pavilions
-
Media engagement and digital campaigns to amplify the voices and stories of Sabah.
